Peel and stick backsplash and new paint color on the backdoor. This was going to be an easy update. This is where I left off on the update update. That’s not a typo. This is an update on the update. Because I loved my front door color, I just knew I would love it on my back door. NOT!!! It made my gray walls look purple.
Even as I started painting the backdoor dark gray – Kelly Moore, “Not My Fault”- the bright sea glass green made the dark gray look purple.
This photo shows the color shifts so much better. The color swatches below are the actual colors.
PAINTING TIP:
Loosen the doorknob and use painter’s tape to protect the knob.
Not My Fault is the door color and Mud Pots is the wall color. The color shift was not just with my camera.
As I was painting the door some of the sea glass green showed through so I decided to distress the door so that a tiny bit of that color showed through.
PAINTING TIP:
Use sandpaper or a sanding block to distress the paint.
There’s no telling how many colors this door has been painted.
After the Cedar Chest face-lift, I had some of the RoomMates Distressed Wood Peel and Stick Wall Décor Wallpaper left. I had enough for a closet project. You will have to come back to see that.
And there was JUST enough for the backsplash in my kitchen.
PEEL AND STICK TIP:
Measure your space to cover 2 times. Measure twice, cut once!
Initial cut with scissors and after peeling and sticking it to the wall, I used a sharp razor knife to trim next to the cabinets and molding. A new blade is the best!
This was another quick and easy update. And I love the way it looks. And the “Be still and know that I am God” metal wall hanging is perfect in this space.
But you know that one thing leads to another. The dark brown curtains are going to have to go. Look again at the first photo. Hmmm, what to do for curtains or window coverings? What do I leave on the cabinet top and what needs to go bye-bye? And the corner cabinet that is open, some of those things have to go!
“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”Psalm 46:10
’til next time,
Nathalie
