We are still Junk Hunting at Antiques Weekend. It’s Round two and Day two for Round Top and Antiques Weekend. These gals are dressed and ready to hit the tents and shops filled with rusty, dusty, chippy goodness. we have high hopes of finding everything on our junk lists and then some. Miss Hackishack and I will share a booth at Petticoats on the Prairie in June so we just might need more junk.
It is day 2 and we have Junkin’ Fever. Our shirts say we have Junkin’ Fever.
I am not only hunting for junk to sell, but I am hunting for junk to paint. The inspiration for my watercolor paintings is everywhere.
The morning sun is casting a great shadow and reflection. I can’t wait to paint this.
It was chilly on our second day so when we stopped for lunch we just had to find a spot in the sunshine.
Let me tell you, junk hunting can work up and appetite.
Lunch was at the Bar W Grill. The Grill is in the Bar W Field at Warrenton, TX. That is before you get to Round Top. We never made it to Round Top.
The food was huge!!! Melissa ordered a chili cheeseburger. The chili and melted cheese was poured over the top and dripping down the sides of the cheeseburger. We had never seen anything like that. And she had only a plastic spoon. No fork. No knife. We laughed so hard as she tried to figure out how she was going to eat that huge, messy cheeseburger. Finally, someone brought her a knife and fork. But it was so worth the laughter.
We shared an order of twisted potatoes. They were so yummy! Like I said, the food was huge!!!
I was in collection heaven. All the silver things, and glass knobs, pocket watches, and rusty keys. There was so much to see and we didn’t even scratch the surface.
My shopping buddies were busy grabbing up goodies to use to decorate their homes. Jessica had been to Antiques Weekend before so she knew it was important to bring a rolling cart. Click HERE to see my tips for what to bring and what you need while Hunting for Junk.
It is funny that they are loaded with treasures for their homes but kind of look like they are homeless with that cart full of plastic bags and junk!
Miss Hackishack knows how to spot good junk and great bargains. Jackie is always hunting for junk.
Look at these 2 incredible green chairs that she found. She has such a great eye for how something will be used.
I finally found a little cabinet that I needed to finish my bathroom project.
Because we had been to so many booths I wasn’t sure that I remembered which vendor I purchased it from. Then it occurred to me that I had photographed the cabinet and the booth and had a business card form the vendor. I had learned the importance of that lesson from day one.
Miss Hackshack and Jessica just knew that they could carry my treasure ALL the way to the truck. I don’t think so! It is way too heavy. We loaded up all our junk and headed home. Almost!
About 30 miles out of Brenham the next morning we spotted a huge SALE. It was an annual fundraiser for a volunteer fire department. It was a warehouse loaded with cheap junk. We were junk hunting and we finally hit the mother lode. The ladder back chairs were 2.00 each, the table was 10.00 and the little side table was 3.00.
These treasures will be cleaned up or not and painted or not and taken to Petticoats on the Prairie or not.
I was excited that I had found everything on my list. Now it’s time to get back home and finish the bathroom and get ready for Baby Bird’s wedding. It was a very special time with my friends.
Psalm 118:24 – “This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
You will have to come back and see where and how our treasures were and will be used. Maybe it will inspire you with some new ways of using some of your own treasures.
I would love to hear about junk hunting finds in the comments below.
I am so glad you took the time to stop by. Please subscribe to stay up to date.
’til next time,
Nathalie
