I love my Jesus, my family, and my friends. Art, sewing, and creativity are among some of my favorite things. I enjoy collecting vintage treasures. The hunt is the best part of that. But what really blesses my heart is sharing my talents and a bit of my knowledge with you. So let's get started... Read More…
Books I have illustrated!
Hello. I plan on making an apron with this amazing pattern, but I was wondering how I can adjust it to a 2X size. How would I go about doing that?
Along the “FOLD” line I would add 1″. That would add 2″ to the width. If you need to add some to the top to accommodate a larger bust, this is what I would do: Look on Page 2, at the bottom, on the illustration, see the grey section between pieces 1 and 2? That grey area is where I would add 1 to 1 1/2″, depending on the bust size. When you start to tape the pattern together add a piece of paper 1 to 1 1/2″ wide and tape between pattern pieces 1 and 2.
I am thinking that should work.
For a custom fit, measure the person from side to side, determining how wide the apron needs to be, add that to the Fold. (remember when you add to the fold that added amount needs to be halved because when it is folded the amount will double).
From the waist measure up to the top of the bust or where the top of the apron would be. Double-check that measurement against the pattern. You may or may not have to add anything to the length. Us the instructions above if you need to add to the length.
I sure hope you can understand my ramblings
So nice to receive a nice long story about YOU….so interesting….and I feel like I’m reading one from a friend. Thank you for the pattern…..I’m actually trying to find the one you have (I think) without the ponytail. My granddaughter is a nurse….short hair…so.almost like this one, but ponytail part not needed. I’ve made about a dozen for her and coworkers. Like you….one too loose, one too tight, one extra fabric on top, ties too long, too short, etc….so I could relate to you. I made scrapcaps with masks to match…tried to figure out how to send you a photo but couldn’t. I’ve been making a lot of masks…just mailed 40 to my son….in Nova Scotia….I live in Prince Edward Island (both Eastern Canada). His church has missionaries in the Honduras, so he asked if I would make some….with the Canadian flag on them. (I’m seeing the flag in my sleep….lol). Family and friends all asking for masks….on top of granddaughter in hospital here. I feel so good being able to do this for both the nurses AND family & friends who don’t sew.
Audrey, the pattern without the ponytail is here. https://myhallcloset.com/free-good-stuff/. You will see that it is the one for Men and Women. You will need you password BUT I am also going to save you a step and email it to you. That is so cool that you are going to put the Canadian flag on them. I bet you are seeing them in your sleep!!!
What a blessing you are!
