One of the easiest ways to improve your curb appeal is to paint the front door.
I found a great new product. The product description caught my attention. Durable, fast-drying, fade-resistant acrylic paint that offers superior protection without requiring a sealer. Its versatile semi-gloss finish is both scuff- and water-resistant, making it perfect for outdoor use. This water-based formula offers excellent adhesion to metal, wood, plastic, and more.
I couldn’t wait to give it a try on my front door. It was exactly as described. (I am not being compensated by DecoArt).

In 2008 we painted the door terra-cotta, which I love but I now needed two things. I felt I needed a little break from organizing cluttered spaces that no one sees and I needed a little instant gratification. Well, almost instant.
It was a beautiful morning. I washed the door to get all the dust off. After all, it is West Texas. The wind blows and the dust covers everything.
I grabbed a few tools and a cup of coffee. Kitty No had to stay in the studio because I had the door open and she is not allowed outside.
I had already started to paint when I remembered that it is easier if you loosen the doorknob and protect it with painters tape. I used masking tape that morning because I didn’t want to take the time to find it.
Remember, I talked about rewarding yourself when you finish one of “those” tasks. Painting my front door was my reward.
I followed the directions. Surprise!!! And let it dry between coats. It only took two coats to cover the terra-cotta color. The total task time was less than a hour. That doesn’t include the drying time. It does include painting both sides, because I loved the results so much that I painted the inside of the door. And, I still have half of the paint left. I am sure I will find something else to paint before the dust settles.
The fun thing about change is change!!! Now, I need to change out the sunflowers.
It’s time. But, they will have to wait.
