For years we gathered on the second Sunday in December. There were 12 of us. All crafty and all friends. We only had a few rules. MAKE 12 ornaments and bring snacks. No kids. If someone moved away or left the group, someone else was invited in. We kept the number at 12. That was a nice size group, not too big and not too small. We would meet in the middle of the afternoon. We would bring our lovingly, handcrafted ornaments in cute baskets or containers. The baskets were placed in a central ... Watercolor Workshop and Retreat | Finishing
It was the last day of the watercolor workshop. For the recap, I had to think about a few things? What was the most memorable thing we learned? Was is frustrating or fun? Can the techniques we learned improve our own art? We were looking forward to our last day of the workshop. It was not that we wanted the experience to be over but we were anxious to finish our paintings. The landscapes had no skies and the hollyhocks, at least mine, needed some help. This workshop was in June, so as of ... Read More about Watercolor Workshop and Retreat | Finishing
Our Retreat to The Cross at Kerrville, TX
It was an absolutely beautiful day for a retreat to "The Cross at Kerrville, TX. It was perfect for an unhurried walk through the Prayer Garden which is laid out in the shape of a cross. The Empty Cross was breathtaking by it sheer size. It is 77.7 feet tall and it is majestic on the Kerrville, Texas horizon. My friends and I felt tiny standing inside the massive empty cross. Several years ago I was on my first solo road trip after my husband passed away. My destination was Uvalde, Texas. I ... Read More about Our Retreat to The Cross at Kerrville, TX

Watercolor Workshop and Retreat | Day 2
The second day of the Dyan Newton Watercolor Workshop felt a little bit easier but it was still a bit of an artistic stretch for my friends and me. This workshop and retreat was the perfect birthday present for the three of us. We stood around Dyan's table. As we watched her paint, we quickly scribbled notes in our art journals, on the sketches, and on dabble paper in hopes that we would remember by the time got back to our paintings. EAT, SLEEP, PAINT, REPEAT! I purchased the 3 of us ... Read More about Watercolor Workshop and Retreat | Day 2
Hill Country Art Workshop and Retreat
Summertime offers a variety of art workshops all over Texas and New Mexico. My friend and fellow artist, Dyan Newton was teaching at the Hill Country Arts Foundation in Ingram, Texas. Dyan and I are both members of the West Texas Watercolor Society and I took one of her workshops several years ago. She is a talented instructor and I was excited to participate in another workshop with her. The added plus was that this workshop was going to be in the Texas Hill Country. It was past time ...
